What is Scratch?
Scratch is a fun way to learn programming. It has been created by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Scratch allows you to make games, animations and interactive stories and gives the option to share them online. Things made in Scratch are known as projects and there are millions of them shared on the Scratch website. You can look inside a Scratch project to see how it was made and even remix them to make your own version.

How do you create things?
Clicking Create on the Scratch website takes you to the online Scratch editor. Here you can drag and drop the blocks of code that fit together like jigsaw pieces to make a program. You can use the Scratch library of graphics and sounds or create and add your own. For those new to Scratch, click Help to find step-by-step guides and video tutorials. Scratch is a visual programming language. The more you experiment and explore, the quicker you will uncover the secrets of Scratch with no limits but your imagination.
